Friday, 15th November 2024, BPS-Statistics Sulawesi Utara Province held an Official Statistics News (BRS) release activity. The indicators released were the Development of Exports and Imports of Sulawesi Utara Province in October 2024 and the Human Development Index (HDI) of Sulawesi Utara in 2024.

The Press Release was carried out online via live streaming on YouTube, virtual zoom and delivered by Sih Kawuri Sejati as the Middle Expert Statistician of the BPS-Statistics Sulawesi Utara Province.

In his presentation, she explained that in October 2024*, the export value of Sulawesi Utara Province was US$ 89.01 million, an increase of 49.78 percent compared to September 2024 which was US$ 59.43 million (m-to-m). When compared to the same month in 2023 (y-on-y), the export value of Sulawesi Utara Province also increased by 11.88 percent. Export commodities this month were still dominated by animal/vegetable fats and oils (HS 15). The import value of Sulawesi Utara Province in October 2024* amounted to US$ 18.30 million, an increase of 100.79 percent compared to September 2024 (m-to-m). When compared to October 2023 (y-on-y), it decreased by 11.25 percent. The trade balance value of Sulawesi Utara Province as measured by calculating net exports (total exports minus total imports) in October 2024* experienced a surplus of US$ 70.71 million. This surplus value has increased compared to the previous month's condition which recorded a surplus of US$ 50.32 million.

Meanwhile, the Human Development Index (HDI) of Sulawesi Utara Province in 2024 reached 75.68, an increase of 0.64 points (0.85 percent) compared to the previous year which was recorded at 75.04. During the 2020-2024 period, the HDI of Sulawesi Utara Province increased by an average of 0.68 percent per year.
