Thursday, January 21th 2021. BPS of North Sulawesi Province held training for officers on the International Trade Price Survey (SHPI) 2021 for 1 (one) day. The training was conducted virtually with a zoom meeting, followed by 11 participants, 6 people serving as field enumerators (PCS) and 5 people as field supervisors (PMS), the samples were spread across five districts / cities in North Sulawesi Province with the largest sample in the city. Bitung. The training was opened by Plth. Head of North Sulawesi Province BPS, Norma O. F. Regar, S.Si., M.Si. and guided by Instructor Abdullah Kango, S.Si., M.M. (Youth Expert Statistics).
In his remarks, he gave a little explanation regarding the SHPI Survey. In general, the SHPI survey aims to see the price movements of strategic export / import commodities in international trade. This information is then used to compile the International Trade Price Index (IHPI) which consists of the Export Price Index and the Import Price Index. The IHPI is an important factor explaining the evolution of domestic inflation. A fall in the import price of final goods can affect the overall price level in the economy. Import prices can also be a good indicator of future inflation in a country, given that many domestic production inputs / raw materials are imported. Seeing the importance of the use of IHPI in a country's economy, it is important for BPS to be able to carry out an International Trade Price Survey (SHPI) to produce quality IHPI data.
He hopes that later the participants will be able to understand the concepts and definitions as well as the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) that has been given by the instructor to be applied in the field, so that all survey officers have the same understanding of the concepts, definitions, and mechanisms in enumeration.
At the end of his speech he advised officers to comply with health protocols in field implementation and adhere to the predetermined schedule, dig a lot of information (probing) from respondents and continue to prioritize the quality of the data generated so that accurate and quality data can be obtained.
