Monday, February 3th 2020 The Central Statistics Agency of North Sulawesi Province released several strategic indicators, namely the Development of the Consumer Price Index / Inflation in Manado in January 2020, North Sulawesi Farmers Exchange Rate Development in January 2020, North Sulawesi Tourism Development in December 2019, Development of Sea Transportation and Air Sulawesi Utara December 2019, Export Development and Imports of North Sulawesi December 2019, Production Growth of Micro and Small Manufacturing Industries of North Sulawesi Province Quarter IV 2019, and Growth of Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry Production North Sulawesi Province Quarter IV Year 2019. This activity was attended by several agencies and media, such as the Office of Tourism, Bank Indonesia, Disperindag, Bappeda, Bisnis Indonesia, Manado Post, Smart FM, Sindo Newspapers, and many more. The following is a brief explanation of some of the indicators released:

1. Development of Manado City Consumer Price / Inflation Index in January 2020

Out of 90 national CPI monitoring cities, 79 cities experienced inflation and 11 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Meulaboh by 1.44 percent and the lowest in Gorontalo City by 0.03 percent. Bau-Bau City experienced the highest deflation of 1.39 percent, while Kudus City experienced the lowest deflation of 0.01 percent. The city of Manado ranks 10th in the highest inflation on Sulawesi Island and ranks 85th nationally.

January 2020 Manado City experienced a deflation of 0.09 percent due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 105.95 in December 2019 to 105.85 in January 2020. From eleven expenditure groups in the city of Manado, the index decline only occurred in the expenditure group transportation by 3.43 percent. The expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the index were the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.95 percent, the health group by 0.93 percent, the clothing and footwear group by 0.45 percent, the personal care and other services group by 0.42 percent, the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.11 percent, the household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.07 percent and the recreation, sports and cultural group by 0.01 percent. The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel groups, the information, communication and financial services group and the education group did not change.

The city of Manado, in January 2020 based on the calculation of calendar year inflation experienced inflation of -0.09 percent and inflation "year on year" of 2.88 percent.

The biggest contributor to deflation in the city of Manado in January 2020 was air transportation by 0.4066 percent, while the largest contributor to inflation was skipjack / scales by 0.1052 percent.

2. Development of Farmer Exchange Rates (NTP) of North Sulawesi in January 2020

NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

North Sulawesi Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) in January 2020 was 99.27, up 0.75 percent compared to the previous month. The increase in NTP was due to the Farmer Received Price Index (IT) which rose 1.21 percent, higher than the increase in the Farmers Paid Price Index (Ib) which was only 0.45 percent. North Sulawesi Province NTP experienced the highest increase after West Sulawesi compared to other Province NTP on Sulawesi Island. On the contrary, Gorontalo Province NTP decreased by 0.73 percent. The Household Consumption Index (IKRT) in North Sulawesi was 0.47 percent, mainly due to the increase in the Health and Food, Beverage and Tobacco Groups. In addition, the North Sulawesi Agricultural Household Exchange (NTUP) in January 2020 was 99.51, up 0.78 percent compared to the previous month.

3. Development of North Sulawesi Tourism in December 2019

The number of Foreign Tourists (tourists) who came to North Sulawesi through the entrance of the Sam Ratulangi airport in December 2019 was 10,743 people compared to November 2019 increased by 16.00 percent. When compared with foreign tourist visits the same month the previous year December 2018 increased by 21.46 percent. Foreign tourists are dominated by Chinese citizens of 9,555 people (88.94 percent), followed by Singapore 132 people (1.23 percent), Americans 120 people (1.12 percent).

For the Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of starred hotels in North Sulawesi in December 2019 it reached 59.49 percent, an increase of 5.83 points (10.86 percent) compared to the ROR of November 2019. The average length of stay of guests (RLMT) of star hotels in December 2019 reached 2.28 days decreased 0.13 points compared to November 2019. While the average length of stay of foreign guests (Foreign RLMT) starred hotels in December 2019 reached 3.75 days decreased by 0.3 points compared to November 2019.

 

4. Development of North Sulawesi Sea and Air Transportation December 2019

The number of domestic sea transportation passengers departing / embarking in December 2019 increased by 18.56 percent compared to November 2019, from 62,257 people to 73,811 people. The number of domestic sea transportation passengers coming / debarking rose by 46.64 percent. In November 2019 from 61,345 people to 89,957 people.

The number of domestic air transport passengers arriving in December 2019 increased by 23.47 percent compared to November 2019, from 81,379 people in November 2019 to 100,481 people. The number of international air transport passengers arriving in December 2019 rose 14.41 percent. From 11,053 people in November to 12,646 people.

5. North Sulawesi Export and Import Development December 2019
The value of non-oil and gas exports in North Sulawesi in December 2019 was recorded at US $ 57.98 million while imports were valued at US $ 33.41 million. The largest non-oil and gas export commodities in December 2019 remain to be occupied by animal / vegetable fats and oils (HS 15), valued at US $ 23.04 million (39.74% of total exports), while for the largest imported commodities are Machinery / Mechanical Aircraft (HS 84), valued at US $ 13.01 million (38.94% of total imports). The largest non-oil and gas export destination country of North Sulawesi in December 2019 is the United States, valued at US $ 12.91 million (22.27% of total exports), while the largest supplier country in December was China, valued at US $ 21.09 million ( 63.13% of total imports).

6. Growth of Micro and Small Manufacturing Industries in North Sulawesi Province Quarter IV 2019

Micro and Small Manufacturing Industries (IMK) in North Sulawesi are spread in almost all districts / cities, which are developed by the community in general based on agricultural products. Food Industry (KBLI 10) and Beverage Industry (KBLI 11) are types of industries which account for more than 70 percent of all IMK in North Sulawesi. Other industries that are also quite widely developed are Non-Metal Mining Industry (KBLI 23), Furniture Industry (KBLI 31), and Apparel Industry (KBLI 14).

North Sulawesi's Micro and Small Manufacturing Industrial Production in Quarter IV 2019 increased by 1.94 percent when compared to Quarter III 2019 (q-to-q). Different circumstances for production in Quarter IV of 2019 against Quarter IV of 2018 (y-on-y) which decreased by -2.95 percent. Meanwhile, nationally the production of Micro and Small Manufacturing Industries in Quarter IV in 2019 decreased by -0.24 percent when compared to Quarter III in 2019 (q-to-q). Unlike the situation with Quarter IV in 2019 against Quarter IV in 2018 (y-on-y), it achieved an increase of 4.85 percent.

 

7. Growth in Production of Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry in North Sulawesi Province Quarter IV of 2019

Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry Production in North Sulawesi Province in Quarter IV 2019 increased by 21.72 percent (q-to-q) and decreased by -3.86 percent (y-on-y) while in the third quarter of 2019 it increased by 3.21 percent (q-to-q) and down -6.30 percent (y-on-y). Food Industry Production (KBLI 10) of North Sulawesi Province in Quarter IV 2019 increased by 23.58 percent (q-to-q) and decreased -5.63 percent (y-on-y) whereas in Quarter III 2019 it increased by 2.32 percent (q-to-q) and down -6.45 percent (y-on-y). Beverage Industry Production (KBLI 11) of North Sulawesi Province in Quarter IV 2019 increased by 0.86 percent (q-to-q) and rose 8.55 percent (y-on-y) while in Quarter III 2019 it increased by 13 , 49 percent (q-to-q) and up 1.09 percent (y-on-y).
