Statistics Official News Release - February 1st 2021

Today, Monday, February 1, 2021, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sulawesi Province released several strategic data on inflation developments and other strategic data. The following is a summary of the data:

A. DEVELOPMENT OF CONSUMER PRICE INDEX / INFLATION JANUARY 2021

• The city of Manado in January 2021 experienced inflation of 0.58 percent, calendar year inflation of 0.58 percent and year on year inflation of 0.49 percent.

• Inflation in Manado City in January 2021 was due to an increase in the index which occurred in the food, beverage and tobacco group by 2.22 percent, the equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 0.71 percent, the clothing and footwear group by 0.22. percent, the personal care and other services group by 0.20 percent and the information, communication and financial services group by 0.09 percent. The three expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the index were the transportation group by 0.99 percent, the health group by 0.34 percent and the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.24 percent. Three expenditure groups that did not change were the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group, the education group, and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group.

• The largest contributor to inflation in Manado City in January 2021 was cayenne pepper at 0.1848 percent, while the largest contributor to deflation was air transportation at 0.1179 percent.

B. DEVELOPMENT OF FARMER EXCHANGE VALUE, JANUARY 2021

• Farmers Exchange Rate (NTP) in North Sulawesi in January was 102.26, an increase of 0.14 percent compared to December, which was still 102.11. The increase in the NTP value was due to the improvement in the Index received by farmers by 1.62 percent, while the Index paid by farmers was only 1.48 percent.

• Change in NTP during calendar year 2021 is 0.14 percent, while YoY (year on year) is 3.01 percent.

• The Indicator of Exchange Rate for Agricultural Household Businesses (NTUP) rose higher than the increase in NTP, namely by 1.11 percent, from a value of 102.51 in December to 103.65 in January.

• In rural areas there was an inflation of 1.78 percent. Three expenditure groups, namely the Information, Communication & Financial Services expenditure group; Education and Food and Beverage / Restaurant Provision tends to be stagnant. Meanwhile, eight other expenditure groups experienced inflation with varying values.

C. TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN NORTH SULAWESI IN DECEMBER 2020

• The number of foreign tourists (tourists) coming to North Sulawesi through the entrance to Sam Ratulangi airport in December 2020 was 1,469 people, a decrease of 7.14 percent compared to November 2020 (M-to-M). When compared to December 2019, it decreased by 86.33 percent (Y-on-Y).

• Foreign tourists are dominated by Chinese citizens as many as 1,466 people (99.80 percent), Russian 2 people (0.14 percent) and Malaysia 1 person (0.07 percent)

• Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of star hotels in North Sulawesi in December 2020 reached 42.39 percent, decreased by 9.09 points (17.66 percent) compared to the ROR for November 2020 which was 51.48 percent.

• The average length of stay of guests (RLMT) of star hotels in December 2020 reached 1.64 days, decreased by 0.02 points compared to November 2020. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of foreign guests (RLMT) of star hotels in December 2020 reached 1, 63 days has not changed compared to November 2020.

D. DEVELOPMENT OF NORTH SULAWESI TRANSPORTATION DECEMBER 2020

• The number of domestic sea transport passengers departing / embarking in December 2020 increased by 13.35 percent compared to November 2020, from 33,260 people to 37,700 people. Arriving passengers / debarkation also increased by 32.59 percent, from 36,250 people to 48,063 people.

• The number of domestic air transport passengers arriving in December 2020 increased by 27.48 percent compared to November 2020, from 42,991 people to 54,807 people, while domestic air passengers departing also experienced an increase of 11.10 percent from 41,627 people in November 2020 to 46,248 people by December 2020.

E. DEVELOPMENT OF EXPORT AND IMPORT IN NORTH SULAWESI IN DECEMBER 2020

• North Sulawesi's non-oil and gas export value in December 2020 was recorded at US $ 82.76 million while imports were valued at US $ 8.04 million.

• The largest non-oil and gas export commodities in December 2020 were still dominated by Animal / Vegetable Fats and Oils (HS 15), valued at US $ 55.30 million (66.81% of total exports), while the largest imported commodities were Machinery / Mechanical Aircraft. (HS 84), worth US $ 4.36 million (54.27% of total imports).

• North Sulawesi's largest non-oil and gas export destination country in December 2020 was the United States of US $ 19.92 million (24.07% of total exports). The United States was also the largest supplier country in December 2020 amounting to US $ 3.40 million (42.31% of total imports).
