Census Night BPS-Statistics of Sulawesi Utara Province

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sulawesi Province conducts a Census Night, on Tuesday (15/9) night, until Wednesday (16/9) morning.

Census Night was held to record residents who do not live permanently, either because of homelessness or moving workplaces, so that they are not recorded de facto anywhere, such as crew members who do not return home for more than 1 year.

This program is implemented simultaneously throughout Indonesia. In North Sulawesi it is implemented in all districts / cities.

In Manado City, the joint BPS team visited 6 points, Manado Harbor, Karombasan Market, Bersehati Market, Malalayang Terminal, Paal Dua Terminal, and overhang of shops in Pasar 45 area.

"Census Night is held at night, because that's when they rest, and the team can conduct interviews," said Head of BPS North Sulawesi, Ateng Hartono when met by media crews in the Pasar Bersehati area.

Ateng explained, in Manado Census Night was carried out by a joint team of Provincial BPS and Manado City BPS. The joint team targets homeless people who are usually found in markets, storefronts, ports and several points in the city center.
